A historical play about the Byzantium in three acts. The play refers to a historical person; a woman of wealthy and noble birth, Agathe Kallisti, who became known by the name Old Lady Agathe, and who lived in the 8th century A.D. In old age, and during a huge famine in the Queen of Cities, Constantinople, she realizes that the strict values she had held until then in her life are not right, and she fervently throws herself into what she had, until then, deprived herself of. Among others, she becomes the mistress of Augustus Constantine V “Copronymus”, to finally retire giving away all of her wealth in order to found a charitable institution for the poor. This historical person is also described in Rina Katselli’s historical novel In Eftalofi, by Chrysopolitissa Publishings, 2012.
