Tear Gas, 2011

1 male – 1 female

Alexis Stamatis

The heroes of Tear Gas are Elli, a young painter and Manos, a middle-aged mathematician. Elli is a modern, young girl who lives her time with all its paradoxes and Manos, a ‘wolf of the steppes’, a man who, for specific reasons, lives alone, in his flat at Exarheia, with no friends, no social life. The title is not referred to what is meant in Greek; dakrygona produce tears. It is the story of two people who suffer each one in his own way. The play describes that ‘terrible’ everyday life which at a moment blows up in front of your eyes, like a tear gas, and everything changes. From that instant, there is only life and truth.
